Planting Spring Bulbs
Spring bulbs, as in the name, will create joyful and colourful displays in the very late winter and throughout spring. Plant between September – November.
A popular favourite with many gardeners because they are so easy to grow and add instant colour and interest during the often wet and gloomy months of Spring.
Spring bulbs such as Daffodils, Crocus and Tulips are perfect for filling gaps in your garden before your perennials and shrubs begin to grow again after dying back through the colder months, keeping your garden bright and exciting throughout Spring.
Easy to grow, there is no need to prepare the soil before planting and feeding/watering as in most cases it can be left to the weather. The bulbs contain all of the nutrients the flowers need to grow.
Spring bulbs like free draining soil ideally. An easy way to guarantee beautiful flowers in the Spring is to add a small amount of grit in to the hole you wish to plant your bulb this will allow the soil to drain easier, perfect for your spring bulbs.
When looking for the best bulbs to plant try to choose large ones that are firm, this will give you the best chance growing beautiful Spring flower displays and remember the more you plant the bigger and bolder you display will be!
